Being a Christian in Academia

Alister McGrath provides advice for Christians considering the possibility of working in academia.

This 35 minute talk is directed towards Christian graduates who are thinking about whether they should be seeking a career in academia. The talk emphasises the importance of having Christians in the academic world and focuses on the challenges and opportunities it offers.

Alister encourages Christian academics to find a support group and mentor, who can affirm and challenge them in what can be an isolated area of work. He also discusses arrogance and humility, being salt and light, and the challenge of explicit and implicit suspicion of those with religious commitments.
