In this video, Alan Schlemon, a speaker with apologetics ministry Stand to Reason, addresses the tricky question of whether Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Christians sometimes give different answers on this. Some are emphatic that they do; others that they do not. Alan points out that when we ask this question, 'God' can refer to two different ideas. He provides helpful comparisons which distinguish between these two different meanings of 'God' – the 'what' and the 'who'. This distinction goes to the heart of why Christians disagree on the answer to this question.
Questions for reflection:
1. Although Alan decides that the answer to this question is "No", what is the difference in approach of Christians who answer "Yes".
2. In what circumstances might an appropriate answer to this question be "What exactly do you mean by God?".
3. Would you answer the question "Do Jews and Christians Worship the Same God?" in the same way? If so, why? If not, why not?
