Led by Thomas Torrance, retired Senior Lecturer in Economics at Heriot-Watt
University and Elaine Storkey, Director of Training for the Church Army
Afternoon
What keeps us human? Issues at the start and close of lifeLed by John Wyatt, Professor of Perinatology at Imperial College, London
....followed by a choice of workshops:
A. Ethics and Genetics (led by Murdo Macdonald) - Issues of complexity, cure and confidentiality
B. Killing with Kindness? (led by Alistair Donald) - End of life issues
C. Smarter, Stronger, Faster, Longer? (led by Donald Bruce) - Drugs, implants, cosmetic surgery...
D. Keeping our Humanity (led by Joe Houston) - Does morality have a future? Does staying human require rules?
Conference chaired by Wilson Poon, Professor of Physics at Edinburgh University.
Cost of £10 includes light lunch and coffees.
Applications will be acknowledged, and a conference pack sent before the event.
This conference is organized by the Mission and Discipleship Council group responsible for encouraging a network for Christian apologetics, but people of all beliefs are welcome.
Childcare may be available if requested by several people.
