KLICE Summer School - Law and Ethics
15 September 2012 - 16 September 2012
For lawyers and others involved in legal work in partnership with The Lawyers Christian Fellowship.
This two day KLICE summer school will be held in the peaceful surroundings of Tyndale House, Cambridge. It is intended primarily for Christian lawyers who wish to engage more effectively and more theologically in the challenging climate of contemporary law and ethics. We will be looking at topics such as natural law, biblical law, international law, justice, justice mission, human rights, equality and the role of government.
The
course leader and academic coordinator will be Dr David McIlroy, barrister, theologian and author of A Biblical View of Law and Justice and A Trinitarian
Theology of Law. Other speakers and
discussion leaders will include:
• Dr Jonathan Chaplin – Director of KLICE, author of Talking God: The Legitimacy of Religious Public Reasoning.
• Matthew Price – International Director of The Lawyers Christian Fellowship
• Dr Joshua Hordern – Associate Director of KLICE, lecturer at University of Cambridge
The number of participants will be kept small in order to ensure the maximum level of participation and interaction for those who attend. The official programme will start at 9.30am on Saturday morning and finish with lunch on Sunday. The fee for the summer school will be 170 pounds per person. This includes accommodation for 1 night with breakfast, the course itself including reading material, lunches, tea, coffee and light refreshments. Supper will be provided on Saturday night as we dine out as a group in order to continue our discussions. Accommodation will be in Wolfson Court, a 10-minute walk from Tyndale House. A second night’s accommodation on Friday evening can be provided for an additional 45 pounds. If you wish to arrange your own accommodation and breakfast the fee will be reduced to 125 pounds.
Space will be strictly limited so we encourage you to book as soon as possible.
