Reasonable Faith

A tour of lectures and debates
with William Lane Craig

presented by Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF)

Bill Craig is an instinctive communicator as well as a fine thinker. He is in great demand across Europe and the USA, yet remarkably is largely unknown in the UK. His lectures and debates are world class and appeal to sceptics and believers alike.

Bill Craig’s books

"Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics"

The Reasonable Faith tour took its name from this book, which Dr Craig considers to be his signature work. The book goes deeper into the evidence than the time constraints of the debates and lectures would allow. To explore these matters further, get hold of the book.

"God, Are You There?"

This booklet summarises Craig’s five key arguments for the existence of God. It’s a helpful reminder and a useful tool to offer to friends.

Tour Update

Nine days, eight cities, 17 meetings, 7,000 people.  These are just the basic stats of the ‘Reasonable Faith Tour’ undertaken by William Lane Craig between 27 February and 9 March.  Venues varied from an upstairs room in a pub crammed with students, through university lecture theatres and Great Halls to the auditorium of Westminster Central Hall, with its capacity of over 2,000.  Almost all venues were close to being filled, with some offering standing room only.  The meetings themselves ranged from lunch with a small group of invited academics to major public debates with leading atheist thinkers.

Highlights

  • Seeing Westminster Central Hall almost filled and John Humphrys chairing the debate with his usual engaging humour and sharp mind;
  • Hearing the eager questioning of students, academics and members of the public – both Christian and non-Christian – as they sought to grapple with the (sometimes uncomfortable) issues being raised;
  • Observing the way in which Bill Craig combined his powerful intellectual ability with a willingness to display humility and vulnerability, as he shared personal testimony of his own faith-quest;
  • Sharing conversations with individuals who had been stimulated in their thinking and challenged to go deeper into the matters addressed by the talks and debates.

Outcomes

  • Up to 7,000 people have been challenged to think through the implications of believing or not believing in the God of the Bible;
  • Many Christians have been encouraged in their faith and given new confidence to share it with their friends;
  • Hundreds of books, booklets and DVDs are now in people’s hands, giving opportunity for the ripple-effects of the tour to spread outwards even further in the weeks and months ahead.
  • Hundreds more enquiries have been received about recordings of the talks and debates.

Clearly there is a hunger for more of what Bill Craig and the ‘Reasonable Faith’ tour had to offer. Perhaps it is best summed up by a question from one member of the public, a self-confessed irregular church-goer: ‘Why isn’t there more of this kind of thing being preached from church pulpits?  If there were, I’d go more often and I’d stay awake during the sermon!’
