Q: Who’s behind bethinking?
A: Bethinking.org is brought to you by the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship, UCCF: The Christian Unions. The material is sourced from many different individuals and organisations, who have kindly given permission to use it. Some material has been prepared or adapted especially for bethinking.
Q: Do you believe everything that’s on the website?
A: Although UCCF holds to some key beliefs, the material on bethinking is intended to help people think through the implications of the Christian faith and the proper interpretation of the Bible. Discussion of different points of view can help to clarify our own reasons for believing what we do, and so on some topics where Christians disagree, bethinking.org provides some material with different viewpoints. We hope this will help you to think through the issues, so you know why you believe what you do, and why you reject other viewpoints. We hope that this is always done with “gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). Whether or not you agree with a particular speaker or author, we hope and pray that you will be blessed by bethinking.org as a resource to help you grow as a thinking Christian.
Q: How can I comment on the resources?
A: Most resources have a ‘Make a comment’ link, or you can e-mail us with any comments or questions at info@bethinking.org.
Q: What is the music behind the voiceover?
A: It’s a sample from the song, ‘Sky in your eyes’ by the band noteforachild (www.noteforachild.com) from the album ‘Late and Alone’. Thanks to Susie and Daniel for this.
Q: Can I reproduce or reprint material from bethinking?
A: Reproduction of any material (text, image, audio, video, design) from bethinking.org without written permission is strictly prohibited. The copyright to all the material resides with various organisations and individuals. Material must not be distributed to other web locations for retrieval, published in other media, or mirrored at other sites without the written permission from UCCF. We will need to request permission from the copyright holder so when you are asking to reproduce material, please allow plenty of time and specify exactly what you wish to reproduce or reprint with as much information as you can (purpose, number of copies, website, any charges made, etc.) Please make requests to info@bethinking.org.
Q: Can I use quotes from talks or articles?
A: Brief quotations may be made, in accordance with standard policy, using standard references to the author/speaker, title and website.
Q: Why can’t I access some of the talks on bethinking?
A: L’Abri has granted bethinking the right to use some of its material, but another organisation has the rights to distribute this material in North America. We therefore have to restrict access to L’Abri material for anyone from that area. Occasionally, our software gets it wrong and people outside of North America find they can’t access these talks. This usually only occurs if you are using certain internet service providers which route a lot of their traffic through North America. We’re really sorry when this happens. If this does happen to you, please e-mail us for some advice on how you may be able to access the material.
Q: Where do you get your material from?
A: We get the resources from lots of different places: talks come from various conferences, lunchbars or other meetings; articles come from books, magazines and journals where permission is given to use it, or sometimes these are written specifically for bethinking. We try to add new resources every few days, so bookmark us and keep checking regularly.
Q: Can I provide material for bethinking?
A: We are always pleased to hear from anyone who would like to provide some material for bethinking. We can’t promise to use it, but please do send us material or ask us first whether we might be interested by e-mailing us at info@bethinking.org.
Q: How can I request articles on a topic I’m interested in?
A: If you have any suggestions on gaps in the material, please let us know. We want to provide material that answers the questions you have, so let us know and we’ll do our best to respond.
